Finding the right bikini brand might be one of the most challenging tasks when it comes to building your wardrobe. And while countless brands exist, discovering the brands that fit your style and body type best take time.

Listed below are a few of my most favorite bikini brands that encompass values of sustainability, body positivity, authenticity, comfort and style.

With goals of sustainability through recycled fabrics, fair trade and slow fashion, and HeroPackaging's 100% compostable poly mailers, House Of ZZ prioritizes the sustainable and safe production of swimwear while being an active member of the sustainability movement. With swimwear styles ranging from cheeky, medium, and full coverage suits to soft floral patterns and bright bold colors, this brand's variety of suits are sure to make you feel sexy, sophisticated, confident, young, daring and fun. House of ZZ is dedicated to creating high quality, well-made pieces that are inclusive to all and “elevate your sense of being without breaking the bank,” and of all the pieces designed, my favorite is the Ash Bikini in Cosmo!

Known for photographing the world’s most well-known swimwear models, photographer Josephine Clough dove deeper into the industry of swim by creating her own line of swimwear, It's Now Cool. With inspiration from 90’s Bondi Beach culture, Clough’s minimalist bikinis are perfect for the sand, sun and surf, mixing and matching tops ranging from blended prints as well as solid colors. With each suit comes a special piece made for all women and all body types. From bikinis and one piece cut-outs to greater coverage and comfort, It’s Now Cool is sure to have a suit for you. Of all the pieces designed, my favorite is The 90s Duo Crop Bikini in red and yellow contrast.

melody swim is a woman-owned, recycled plastic turned sustainable swimwear company working to minimize harmful fast fashion practices within the industry. melody swim goes beyond compostable packaging; the company takes the art of swimwear to a whole new (and sustainable) level. Founded by Jasmine Caputo in 2021, melody swim launched its first line of the company including three suits: the Awake Bikini, the Clarity Bikini, and the Escape Bikini made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon. For melody swim, sustainability and ethics are at the forefront of their company and their mission is to provide beautiful swimwear while doing the least harm to the planet. Of all the pieces designed, my favorite is the Awake Bikini!

Founded by model Monti Landers in 2016, Riot Swim creates suits ranging from family-friendly to sexy high-waisted bikinis and one-pieces in neutral tones with pops of green, blue, lavender and lime for a sexy, luxe, minimalistic look. Available at Kith, Revolve, Pacsun and Victoria Secret, Riot Swim is taking the top retailers by storm with emphasis on body positivity, inclusion, and confidence. Riot Swim has an abundance of swimsuit styles guaranteed to make you feel and look your absolute best. Of all the pieces designed, my favorite is the Phoenix One Piece in Canary!

Founded by Australian designer Allanah Van Der Mey, Van Der May began her journey in 2017 to create premium swimwear. Since 2017, VDM The Label has produced everyday suits for “beach bunnies, water-loving sun worshippers and the insatiably curious who want to get noticed and wear their hearts on their impossibly stylish bikini straps.” Not only a firm believer in style being an attitude rather than a clothing size, the company also believes sustainability to be a top priority in the world of retail. VDM The Label utilizes fabrics sourced from recycled consumer products, such as water bottles and fishnets dragged from the ocean to create their products. From distinctive prints and timeless styles, VDM The Label has bikinis, one-pieces and accessories that are "sexy, a little sultry, and a lot kinder to the planet." Of all the pieces designed, the Kasia 60’s Floral/Pastel Reversible Bikini is my favorite!

Founded by Australian power sisters Candice Rose-O'Rourke and Karla Rose in Bondi Beach, Australia in 2012, Zulu & Zephyr is a lifestyle brand “cultivating cool, beautiful and effortless swimwear and signature designs for modern women around the world.” With the intent to revive their mother’s Australian fashion era of the 1970’s, Zulu & Zephyr employ vintage prints and various textures to attain the coastal, beach culture. From fleece sets, organic cotton cover ups, ribbed styles, signature swim and sophisticated holiday resort wear, the company designs nostalgic and unique pieces. Of all the pieces designed, my favorite is the Signature Bikini One Piece in Lemon!

Founded by Sivan Ayla, Tan + Lines swimwear is a swim and sport brand consisting of flattering pieces for all shapes and sizes. From warm neutral tones to traditional animal print patterns, the brand creates minimal and chic pieces while keeping in mind all different body types. Of the swimsuits designed, the Fiji Bikini in Zebra is my favorite!

Founded by Queens-born designer Marcelo Gaia in 2018, Mirror Palais is a “romantic-tropicalista meets-urban-girl it-brand” producing a variety of pieces ranging from swimwear and accessories to clothing and intimates. Worn several ways to mix or match, to tie one way or the other, Mirror Palais Swim is designed to assist individuals in their experimentation with Gaia’s 90's vintage-inspired, subtely modernity, and sophisticated sex appeal pieces. One of the highest priorities of Gaia is designing pieces that celebrate all body types. And while these pieces may be on the more expensive side of retail, the unique designs created by Gaia are well worth the price. Of all the pieces created, my favorite is the Henri Bikini!
